Our heavenly father called Marvin Doyle Robinson home on Thursday, July 25. He passed away peacefully at his home in Evanston, with both his brothers by his side.

Marvin was born in Powell on Sept. 14, 1958, to Jesse LeMoine Robinson and Shirley Ellen (Wood) Robinson. At a young age, Marvin developed a love of the outdoors that continued for the rest of his life. Marvin also loved animals and enjoyed spending time on the farms of family friends as a young boy.

Marvin loved school and always had many friends growing up. Marvin quit high school and followed his traveling spirit and hitchhiked to the west coast with a friend, oftentimes hopping on freight trains to get from one place to the next.

Upon returning home, Marvin loved to tell family and friends of his adventures. Marvin was a prolific storyteller and could go on for hours. Marvin loved music of all kinds and was a talented harmonica player.

Marvin worked the oilfields around Rock Springs. There he met and married Kelly Evans in 1984. Kelly had a son from a previous marriage. Marvin loved her son, Barry “B J” Speicher, like his own and was very proud to be a dad.

Marvin and Kelly later divorced, but Marvin and Barry remained close. Barry blessed Marvin with five granddaughters: Chelena Speicher,  Adahsia Speicher, Maqalla Ward, Kirsten Speicher and Abigail Speicher; and four great-grandkids.

Marvin had to give up the oilfield because of a heart condition, but he got his GED and attended one year of college at Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs.

Marvin moved to Evanston and worked at Uinta Recycling for 10 years. He loved meeting new people and seeing friends at the recycle center.

Marvin was a very spiritual person and loved reading and doing research on the Native American culture. He enjoyed hiking, collecting rocks, Facebook and spending time with family and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Robinson; mother, Shirley Halsey; grandparents, John and Eunice Wood, and Jesse and Myrtle Robinson; uncle, Ralph Borcher; aunt, Erma Borcher; cousins, Marilyn Borcher and Keith Borcher; and sister-in-law, Cindy Boyd.

Marvin is survived by his son, Barry Speicher (Melissa) of Hernando, Mississippi; five granddaughters; four great-grandkids; brothers, Mark Robinson of Wickenburg, Arizona, and John Robinson of Evanston; cousin, Joyce Ruward (Brad) of Powell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marvin did not want a celebration of life service, but asked that people remember him when enjoying a hike, picnic or nature walk.
