Debra Lyn Adkins was born on Friday, Feb. 26, 1954, to Linzie Clayton Adkins and Janice Marilyn Kindler Adkins, in Evanston. She was the oldest of five children.

Debra graduated from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the age of 70, due to diabetes and heart complications.

After graduating from Evanston High School in 1972, she attended Stevens-Henager College in Ogden, Utah, and received her associate’s degree in business administration.

After graduation, Debra worked for the attorney general for five years in Washington, D.C., in 1974, when Gerald Ford was our 38th president. After the presidency changed hands, she moved to Los Angeles, where she worked as a paralegal for Walt Disney and other movie stars at the Maritime Law firm for five years. This was followed by moving closer to home as a customer service representative at the IRS in Ogden for 20 years.

She was obsessed with Starbucks and painting ceramics like her dad, mom and sisters.

She was loved by her parents, siblings and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Debra is survived by her brother, Curtis, of Evanston; six nieces; and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents — her mother in 2011 and her father in 2015; her siblings — Krissa Warren in 2018, Craig Adkins in 2021, and Darla Cossitt in 2022; and her nephew, Brandon Cossitt, in 2024.

A graveside service was held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m. at the Evanston cemetery. Her ashes will be placed beside her sister Krissa’s ashes.

Thank you for the love and care provided by Fairfield Village of Layton, Utah. Debra will be missed by all who had the chance to get to know her.

We are going to miss you, Debie. May your reunion with your eternal family be all that you expected and more. We love you.
