Nevada June Haines Argyle, 93, passed peacefully into the care of our Lord, Monday, March 4, 2024, in Boise, Idaho.

She was born June 30, 1930, in Wells, Nevada, the eighth of eight children born to Everett Phillip and Ethel May “Ted” Sims Haines. The family later moved to Evanston, where June graduated from Evanston High School in 1948.

She married her best friend, David Philip Argyle, in the Union Presbyterian Church in Evanston on Oct. 18, 1953. They were married for nearly 51 years. After living and working several places in the Intermountain West, Dave and June moved their family to Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1970, where Dave and June owned and operated Agri-Test Inc., an agricultural testing and consulting laboratory.

June truly enjoyed her family and had many trips with them that included camping, hiking, fishing, looking for old mines and studying the geology and history of the area. Epic Sunday drives of hundreds of miles to see what was at the end of the road were a family tradition.

She was a fabulous baker, and she truly knew the art of making homemade bread. She especially enjoyed baking cookies with her grandchildren. Her canned fruit and her pickles were a treat far beyond anything that could be purchased in a store.

Dave and June were avid gardeners and grew a rich bounty of vegetables and flowers. She was an expert in sewing and needlework, including knitting, crocheting and tatting. When not busy with crafts, she loved reading.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, and of the Twin Falls Soroptimists International, serving as president. She loved music, and played the flute, piccolo and piano, and she sang in the choir. She participated in orchestras wherever she lived, including the Magic Valley Civic Symphony.

She was a proud member of Eastern Star. A lifelong learner, June finished her Associate of Arts Degree at the College of Southern Idaho, graduating with honors May 16, 2003, the oldest person to receive a diploma that day. She had a wonderful sense of humor, still telling jokes and teasing those around her until the very end.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; parents; three brothers, Charles Isaac Haines, John Sims Haines and Robert Don Haines; four sisters, Alice Elizabeth Haines Sherman, infant girl Haines, Florence Marie Haines and Hazel Ann Haines Wylie; daughter-in-law, Anita Claire Baron; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her three children, Theodore E. (Marsha True) Argyle of Boise, John L. Argyle of Boise, and Susan (Charles Livingston) Argyle of Plano, Texas; her pride and joy, her three grandchildren, Erin Argyle and Emma and Phoebe Livingston; and over 40 nieces and nephews. She was loved by her family, and she will be missed.

The family is grateful for the care provided by Dr. Joseph Ippolito, and the assistance provided by Edgewood Spring Creek Assisted Living, Valleyview Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing, and All Care Hospice over the last several years and for the services of Bowman Funeral Home.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, in the 1st Presbyterian Church in Boise, Idaho, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. June’s ashes will be scattered near those of her husband, Dave, in a private ceremony at a later date.
