Mayor Williams should resign

With reference to the city council meeting of Tuesday, Aug. 6, that was improperly conducted by Mayor Kent Williams:

Mayor Williams, you improperly adjourned the meeting (no motion was asked for and no vote taken). I approached you and asked if you had respect for the citizens.

You made the comment to me that Mel Baldwin would be churning in his grave over the newspaper’s article about Rocco O’Neill’s ignorant and disrespectful treatment of Gina Sundquist. I told you that Mel Baldwin would be very happy.

I asked you again if you had any respect for the citizenry. No answer. I then told you that I had no respect for you, and that we will have to vote you out next time.

Mr. Williams, you are just the mayor. You have no business telling the editor of the paper that it should have been approved by you before printing. I have heard the stories from many around town that you have had the paper keep names from appearing in newspaper’s police reports. I know that Mel Baldwin would be proud that his paper was producing truthful and accurate reporting once again.

Mr. Williams, during your tirade about the newspaper not being OK’d by yourself, you stated that you had a talk with Rocco and that you discussed that everybody makes or says things at times that weren’t meant that way.

That was all the discipline you thought the three employees needed. You should really send these three to charm school for a month or whatever it takes.

I believe that the Golden Rule should be instilled in the three. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all! Rocco needs to be disciplined; he is a real smartass and needs to learn to respect everyone and belittle nobody.

I listened to the recording several times and I recognize the voices of the people in background. I always thought they were OK, but I have learned different. I thought they were better than what they have shown.

Mayor Williams, I don’t like the way you have handled any of this. I also don’t like you living off local government with two wages. In all my days here, I have never heard more people who have told me they are very disappointed with the mayor. I strongly ask that you vacate the position.
