Charlotte Mae Mortensen Bybee was born on May 14, 1947, in Salem, Idaho, to Annes and Maud Mortensen. She passed away peacefully, with her devoted husband by her side, on Tuesday, Aug. 6, their 59th wedding anniversary.

She was lovingly surrounded by family members in her home.

Charlotte graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1965, and soon after married the love of her life, Clyde Bybee. They were married and sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.

In 1966, she graduated from beauty school, and they started their family in 1970. Later, she earned an associate’s degree in early childhood development from Western Wyoming Community College and went on to own and operate Buttons and Bows Preschool.

She often followed her preschool graduates through their educational journeys and beyond.

Charlotte was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She dedicated her life to serving others, including her family, church, students, and community, always putting others before herself. Whether she was offering a warm loaf of banana bread or a jar of raspberry jam, her kindness, warmth, and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Charlotte had a passion for flowers, music, Diet Pepsi, and the Utah Jazz.

Charlotte’s greatest joy was her family, her loving husband, Clyde Bybee; their six children,Valerie (Brandon) Taro, Becky Kerry, Bev (Pat) Fackrell, Kevin (Penny), Megan (JP) Cummings and Wes (Stefanie); 13 grandchildren; and numerous friends, whom she considered family.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her daughter, Megan Cummings; and her granddaughter, Rachel Taro.

Services have been held. Charlotte will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.
