The Evanston High School boys’ basketball team has shown it can compete with anyone.
The Red Devils went 1-2 over the weekend at the Cheyenne Invitational, but their win came against Laramie, the No. 1 team in the state at the time.
Laramie has since dropped out of the latest Class 4A rankings, while Evanston moved from No. 4 to No. 5 after falling to Ft. Collins (Colorado) and now top-ranked Cheyenne East at the Invitational.

Evanston is seventh in scoring in 4A with 62.3 points per game and are eighth in team defense, allowing 61.3 points per contest.
Junior Braxton Hiatt is the third-leading scorer in Class 4A with 20.2 points per game. Senior Chase Critchfield is fifth with 19. Chandler Anderson is the next leading scorer with 8.6 points.
Lyman, which has an entirely new starting lineup after graduating eight seniors from last year’s team, is 15th in scoring (41.1 ppg) and sixth in defense (52.7 ppg) in 3A.
Cayden Giles leads the Eagles in scoring with 9.8 points per game. BeauDee Bluemel and Ben Niederer are both averaging seven points.
