LYMAN — Lyman High School volleyball coach Brecia Hansen was up late Tuesday night working on practice plans.
She believes the Lady Eagles have yet to hit their stride this season.
“I’m just trying to find little tweaks,” Hansen said. “I still feel like we can block more balls. I feel like my setters can get my hitters better balls. We still have some things on defense that we need to fix. We are not seamless at this point, that’s for sure.”
Lyman, ranked third in Class 3A, enters Friday's regional tournament at Riverton with a No. 1 seed and a 23-4 record.
But the Lady Eagles aren’t getting ahead of themselves.
“You never know what is going to happen,” Hansen said. “Nothing is set in stone at this point.”
Lyman, which received the No. 1 seed in the South, will open with a 1 p.m. matchup on Friday against Lander, ranked fourth in the North.
Mountain View, the No. 3 seed in the South, will face Riverton, the No. 2 seed in the North at 2:20 p.m. Friday.
The Lyman/Lander winner and Mountain View Riverton winner meet at 5:30 p.m. The winner of that contest qualifies for state.
Pinedale (No. 4 South), Cody (No. 1 North), Powell (No. 3 North), and Star Valley (No. 2 South) are the other teams in the 3A West.
The Lady Eagles have beaten all of the teams.
“By no means do I think, ‘No problem. We’ve got this,’” Hansen said. “There are no guarantees that we’re going to go to state. We have to show up and do some work to make that happen.”
Mountain View enters the regional with a 13-14 record.
