Youth, families enjoy annual Kids Safety Roundup

Posted

EVANSTON — Uinta County Public Health extends a hearty thank you to all who participated in this year’s Evanston Kids Safety Roundup. A second Kids Safety Roundup event will be held in Bridger Valley on Tuesday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Mountain View Park.

This community event, supported by a broad coalition, was created to promote health and safety and provide education, as well as connecting community members with various county agencies whose missions support and sustain these goals.

While this event is certainly educational it is also a fun family event. Highlights included a visit from Smokey Bear, raffle prizes, games, Wyoming Highway Patrol safety belt simulator, and the impressive landing of an AirMed helicopter.

Kids and adults alike could be found climbing, or having a close peek, into a fire truck, ambulance, helicopter or Game and Fish boat. Educational booths included health and wellness, internet safety, electrical safety, gun safety, ATV safety, horse safety and participation from local first responders and law enforcement. Additional booths provided free bicycle helmets and fittings, along with car seat safety checks.

Officials wish to thank the many vendors and sponsors who care about our community and come together to make this an annual event.

Public Health may be contacted year-round for car seat safety checks, maternal and early childhood wellness, immunizations, health and wellness and much more, including connecting community members to the many resources available. For the Evanston branch, call 307-789-9203; for services in the Bridger Valley, call the Lyman office at 307-787-3800.
