Two local pharmacists were recognized last month at the Wyoming Pharmacy Association Annual Convention and Awards Ceremony. The event was held Saturday, June 29, in Thermopolis.

“City Drug is pleased to announce that the Pharmacist of the Year award went to our very own Zach Fitch. Doug Eastman believes that this is the first time anyone from Evanston has ever won this award. City Drug of Bridger Valley is pleased to announce that the ‘Distinguished Young Pharmacist’ award went to Kailee Becking,” reads a press release issued by City Drug.

The Wyoming Pharmacy Association exists to advocate, educate, and connect to improve the health of Wyoming citizens through advancement of pharmacy.

What was said at the

awards ceremony:

“It is incredibly difficult to decide on a pharmacist of the year. We are blessed to have so many wonderful pharmacists who go above and beyond to help their patients. However, we are grateful to provide recognition to one pharmacist a year who has provided significant and sustained contributions to the pharmacy practice in Wyoming.

“This year’s recipient moved to Wyoming six years ago. Since his arrival, he has been instrumental in the growth and success of City Drug. He has spearheaded many different clinical services, including COVID testing and implementation of various CPESN-sponsored activities. He has grown immensely in both his responsibilities and his ability to care for patients.

“He works extensively on the quality and compliance of compounded products. He has completed over 100 hours of bio-identical hormone training to better provide for the needs of his patients. He is not only a great pharmacist; he is a great friend and asset to Wyoming.

“Please join us in congratulating Zach Fitch as Pharmacist of the Year!

“Every year, Pharmacists Mutual presents the Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award to one recipient in each state. This award recognizes individual excellence and outstanding contributions to pharmacy associations and communities.

“This year’s recipient graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2023. She started working at City Drug shortly thereafter. Starting as a pharmacist can be a very overwhelming prospect, but she has shown determination and passion for the profession at every turn. She has completed training on products and culture as well as others.

“She went from a part-time pharmacist to being pharmacy manager and PIC. She is an incredible mix of personality and professionalism. Shortly after being named PIC, she was surprised by a board inspection and got through it with flying colors. The future is very bright for this young pharmacist.

“Please join us in congratulating Kailee Becking for being this year’s Distinguished Young Pharmacist!”
