Gay Lynn Dunning was born July 21, 1945, in Coalville, Utah, to Clifford and Verlean Schofield. She had six sisters and two brothers.

She grew up in Evanston. She married Kenneth Felderman in 1961, and they later divorced. She married William Marion Dunning in 1974.

Gay worked at the Wyoming State Hospital and Schofield’s Furniture & Appliance. She later owned and operated Gay’s Gifts and Photo Finish in downtown Evanston.

She loved her family, friends, all children and animals. She fed every stray cat, hummingbird, and any animal she could. Her favorite animals were dogs, cats and moose.

She loved family get togethers, the mountains, taking and printing photos, traveling and listening to country music. She loved talking and laughing with her sisters on the phone. She had a wonderful sense of humor.

She passed away peacefully after many years of illness in the early morning of Saturday, April 20. In the end, she was ready to go and be with her parents and loved ones again in a better place.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her sister, Denna Lovato; her stepchildren Robert, Martin and Denise Dunning; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved.

Graveside services for Gay and her late husband, Marion, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, at the Evanston City Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Evanston Roundhouse.
