WWI exhibit at museum

EVANSTON — An exhibit of WWI posters is now at the Uinta County Museum. The exhibit was organized by Fort Casper Museum to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entry into the global conflict.

The colorful posters were created for a domestic audience and depict activities Americans were encouraged to undertake stateside to support the war effort overseas.

“Home Front Posters of the Great War, 1917-1918” consists of 30 framed copies of posters in the collection of the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City. It will be on display at the Uinta County Museum through Jan. 15.

After it closes, the exhibit will travel to Afton and other places around Wyoming for the next couple of years. The exhibit has been sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, Fort Casper Museum Association and the Casper Memorial VFW Post 9439 and Auxiliary.

Winter hours for the Uinta County Museum are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Admission is free. The museum is located at 1020 Front St. in Evanston.
