EVANSTON — The population of Woodruff, Utah, increased dramatically on Saturday, June 16, during the seventh annual Woodruff Classic Car Show, and by any measure the event was a success. A beautiful sunshine-filled day brought throngs of people to the park to appreciate the entries as well as honor veterans and raise money for worthy causes.
Event organizer Jared Huffaker said there were 84 entrants in the car show, some of them driving extreme distances to participate. Huffaker said a California couple drove their rat rod 1,400 miles to participate and ultimately win the “coveted best of show Gold Buckle.”
In addition to the cars, trucks, bikes, tractors and rat rods, the event featured a military and Boy Scout appreciation ceremony, a 4H hamburger sale, pinewood and matchbox car races, a parade, a charity auction and more.
Kids enjoyed snow cones, played on the playground, got their faces painted and took turns on an inflatable water slide while parents checked out cars and socialized. The event even featured some live music in the form of T.J. Orton playing drums from the back of a truck.
Huffaker said approximately 1,000 people attended and the event made $4,000 for charity.
