EVANSTON — There will be a meeting held for any and all adults who have an interest in the availability of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts after 2019, which is the final year the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will sponsor Scout units. It will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Evanston High School conference room.
Trapper Trails Council staff will be on hand to answer questions and assess the community interest. Currently, Troop and Pack 911 are the only functioning units not sponsored by the LDS church, and therefore will be around for the foreseeable future.
The Masonic Lodge is planning to provide sponsorship starting this year, and other sponsors are needed as well as parental leadership and support.
Those who would like to have their children and grandchildren have the option to be a part of Scouts should attend and find out what the opportunities and requirements are to lead and support Scout units in the Evanston and Bridger Valley areas.
