EVANSTON — A single-engine airplane crashed in Evanston Sunday afternoon. According to scanner traffic, there were two people in the plane. Two people initially reported the crash, one from Cottonwood Street and one from Second Avenue. The reports came one right after the other at 3:12 p.m.
According to scanner traffic, two bodies were recovered at the crash site.
Mike and Teresa Park, who live near Purple Sage Golf Course, said they were out on their porch looking at the snow when they heard it descend and hit the ground. Emergency responders took a dirt road off Highway 89 combing through fields to search for a way to get to the crash site.
Smoke could be seen from Highway 89 and from the Willow Park mobile home park as firefighters and paramedics attempted to get to the off-road scene.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
