EVANSTON — A Utah liability and personal injury attorney will have an Evanston presence after securing a space inside Harris Law Office on Main Street. Ray Johnson, who was born in Wyoming and owns property in Evanston, is “of counsel,” which means he has established a relationship with Mark Harris’s firm, but Johnson is not a partner or associate with Harris Law Office.
Johnson lives in Park City, Utah, but also has a home in Evanston, and he said he’s excited to work with more people in southwest Wyoming.
Johnson said he was urged to offer his services to Evanston residents after hearing that the community was lacking lawyers who focused on liability claims for personal injury, death, auto accidents and insurance claims.
Johnson said he offers a free consultation appointment, adding that he doesn’t charge a fee unless he recovers money for a client.
Johnson has worked at a private practice since 2014. From 2012-14, he was the associate general counsel for the Caribbean area LDS Church and charities, where he was assigned responsibility for a 14-country area. He handled land and zoning issues, personal injury claims, insurance coverage and defense, immigration issues and represented legal entities in different countries.
Johnson has also spent part of his career as an expert witness while working for a private practice.
He’s worked for LDS Church and charities in West Africa, Guide One Insurance Companies, Mountain West Farm Bureau Insurance and he was the state administrator for Wyoming Energy Extension Service.
Johnson was also a U.S. Air Force pilot assigned to the German Air Force.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a juris doctorate from the University of Wyoming.
