MacKinley (Mac) Keith Malone, 16, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away during surgery following a shooting near his home in Lubbock on Jan. 20.
MacKinley or Mac, as he was called by friends, was born June 28, 2001, in Midland, Texas. He practiced long and hard at giving “the look,” with eyebrows blazing, a twinkle in his eye and a funny joke at the ready. Mac made friends easily. His motto was #fightforlife. He was a big brother, striving in school, and he will be missed by all who knew him in the two communities he called home.
He is survived by his loving paternal grandmother and legal guardian, Debra (Mike) Dunn; father, Cory Malone; mother, Shay Moore of College Station, Texas; maternal grandparents, Tim Moore of Austin, Texas, and Jeni Etcheverry Moore; his brother, Mason King Malone, 15; many aunts and uncles; stepfather, Scott Blood of Evanston; step-grandparents, Mike and Vikki (Moyer) Jackson; and three half-sisters, Mallory Blood, 10, Lacey Blood, 8, and Addison Blood, 4.
A private celebration of life will be held with friends and family in Evanston on Saturday, Jan. 27. A memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. that same day at Generations Church in Lubbock, Texas.
