Editor:
For those of you who did not attend the “Light of the World” musical performance and the family Christmas party that preceded it, you really missed a highlight of the holiday season — or any other season for that matter.
The event chair, Sara Maisey, did an incredible job of bringing together choruses, musicians and volunteers to present an evening of joy and fun.
Starting with the bake sale, silent auction, children’s games and a delicious buffet, visitors gathered at the Davis Middle School auditorium for an evening of holiday music.
Appearing were the Evanston Women’s Chorus, the Aspen Church Tabernacle Choir (guitarists and vocalists), the Evanston Handbell Choir, St. Paul’s, Trinity Lutheran and Union Presbyterian churches combined choir and the Evanston Men’s Chorus.
The men really outdid themselves with bongo accompaniment and a carol in other languages.
A gorgeous harp was brought on stage with Nicole Linford performing with Sue Baird, Carolee Bowen and Rachel Haass.
The Elm Street LDS Church choir sang “When the Son of God was Born,” followed by Madrigal singers, and Beverly Taggart and Allan Dancer who sang prior to the Evanston Civic Chorus.
A unique experience was the slide show of people from Evanston doing volunteer work while the orchestra set up. It’s amazing how many different venues our citizens have assisted with.
The evening concluded with the Evanston Civic Orchestra and the combined choirs.
The school was decorated with lighted trees, poinsettias and Christmas decorations throughout. What a wonderful way to start the holiday season! Congratulations to all who participated in this outstanding event.
