Ken “KB13” Dee Bruce, age 68, of Evanston, died Monday, Dec. 13, at his residence, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born June 13, 1953, in Evanston, to Wright “Koski” and Lenore Cornia Bruce.

He married his high school sweetheart, Colleen Cook, June 30, 1972, in the Ogden LDS Temple for time and eternity. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which he held many callings.

He served for many years in the Scouting program. Ken loved the outdoors, hunting, pack trips in the mountains, ranching and photography. In his later years, he spent a lot of time fishing. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He was a skilled welder and worked in the oilfield for many years. He followed in the footsteps of his father and was the caretaker of the LDS Stake Welfare Ranch in his spare time.

Ken is survived by his wife of 49 years, Colleen; five of his six children, Audra (Larry) Rhodes of Heber, Utah; Becky (Birney) Davis of Almy; son-in-law, Clint Saxton of Evanston; Buckley (Kristal) Bruce of Pinedale; DeeAnn (Jeremy) Roloff of Minot, North Dakota; and Cody (Chelsey) Bruce of Randolph, Utah; his brother, Bill (Karen) Bruce of Tooele, Utah; sister, Susan Brueckmann of Pablo, Montana; 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Koskell (Gus) Saxton; brother, Alan (Joe) Bruce; his parents, Lenore and Wright “Koski” Bruce; and his wife’s parents, Lawrence and Selena Cook.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, in the Elm Street LDS Ward Chapel on Elm Street. Viewing will be at the church Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the funeral on Friday. Interment will follow in the Evanston City Cemetery.
