EVANSTON — The first Jimmy John’s opened up in January of 1983. Since then, there are more than 2,500 locations in 46 states. It is a franchise restaurant, famous for its “freaky fast” delivery and gourmet sandwiches.
There are currently three Jimmy John’s up and running in Wyoming, and opening as early as this month, there will be a fourth — here in Evanston.
Chavez Bros. Inc., and Chavez Bros 1 Inc., owners of the Jimmy John’s in Rock Springs, have expanded to Evanston. They opened the Rock Springs location in 2013. The owners have been Wyoming residents for 27 years.
Chavez Bros. purchased the license for the Evanston area two years ago, in April 2015..
“It’s been a long journey, beginning with finding a location, and ending with the [Evanston] Jimmy John’s ready to open sometime in April, although no exact date can be [set] quite yet,” Angie Chavez said.
The new business will give some local residents an additional employment opportunity. The owners said they are very excited and that it’s even more exciting for the employees of Jimmy John’s, as they have been given the chance to grow within the company.
Chavez said Jimmy John’s is a great franchise to be a part of and the franchise embraces an upbeat workplace, where people treat each other like family.
“We are all excited to open in Evanston, begin meeting the residents and becoming a part of the community,” Chavez said.
