EVANSTON — In January, the Evanston City Council discussed and then passed a resolution to restripe Front Street. The job will begin on May 21.
The restriping will reduce the number of lanes along Front Street, between Harrison Drive and 10th Street from four to three, allowing for a dedicated left turn lane so northbound drivers can legally turn left on 9th Street. South of 9th Street the road will be restored to four lanes.
Council members said the restriping will also increase the space by one foot for cars parking parallel to the street, enhancing safety of people exiting their vehicles.
