EVANSTON — There wasn’t an empty seat to be found in the Evanston Uinta County Senior Center over the noon hour on Wednesday, Nov. 22, as the center provided Thanksgiving dinner a day early. The lunch-time meal was provided free of charge to all those who attended at both the Evanston and the Bridger Valley centers.
Director Amy Kelly said the free meal was offered to all seniors and community members as a way of saying thank you for all the support the senior centers receive year-round. Both centers served in-house meals and Meals on Wheels delivered dinners to the homebound.
Evanston resident Tabitha Garner delivered meals with the help of her two sons, Kolton, age 9, and Sam, age 8. Tabitha said with a laugh that the boys had volunteered to help “almost all on their own.”
Kelly said the centers served 471 meals between Evanston and the Bridger Valley, including 242 delivered by Meals on Wheels with the help of volunteers like the Garners.
