David Earl Newsome

David Earl Newsome passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the age of 65. He was born in Evanston on May 14, 1955, and he was the first son to Earl and Jackie Newsome. Dave graduated from Evanston High School in 1973. His senior saying was, “I’m the real thing. I am me.”

At the early age of 13, Dave started a long career in the food service industry at the Whirl Inn, where he was a cook. From there he operated and managed The Last Outpost in Evanston during the boom days. In the early ’90s, Dave created his own passion and local business, Dave’s Custom Meats, which was in operation until 2017.

On April 29, 1985, Dave married the love of his life, Ginger Newsome. He faithfully stood by her side until her passing on May 14, 2017.

Dave was a friend and loved by everyone he met. Dave took pleasure in serving the community and socializing with anyone who came in the door. He enjoyed the many aspects of life and will be greatly missed.

Dave is preceded in death by his mother, Jackie Newsome Randick; his loving wife and soulmate, Ginger Newsome; and his father, Earl Newsome.

He is survived by his son, Damon Newsome (Tawni) of Evanston; grandsons, Tanner and Gavin Newsome of Evanston; daughter Heather Edwards of Evanston; sister Susan Williams (Jim) of Evanston; sister Leslie Ervin (Daryl) of Evanston; brother, Dan Newsome (Julie) of Bend, Oregon; and a multitude of friends throughout the community.
