EVANSTON — The Evanston City Council approved a limited malt beverage permit requested during the Feb. 19 council meeting by The Arts, Inc. for the Celtic Festival at the Roundhouse and Railyards Complex Friday-Saturday, March 22-23.

An ordinance of the City of Evanston repealing Sections 15-19 (definitions of gambling), 15-20 (gambling prohibited) and 15-21 (seizure of gambling devices, records and proceeds) of the Evanston City Code that regulates gambling was approved on first reading. This ordinance will go through two more readings before final approval of repeal can be voted on.

The City of Evanston has been awarded a grant from the USDA to create and disseminate a variety of marketing materials, and Warehouse Twenty One, of Cheyenne, submitted the best proposal. Resolution 19-01 authorizing the execution of an engagement letter with Warehouse Twenty One to create a variety of marketing materials to promote city-owned sites and structures for business development was approved.

Resolution 19-02 authorizing the execution of a managed service contract with CSI-Networks to provide critical updates to the city’s telephone system was approved.

Recognizing that emergencies may require assistance in the form of personnel, equipment, and supplies from outside the area of impact, an intrastate program for mutual aid and assistance was established. The Wyoming Water and Wastewater Mutual Aid and Assistance program is a completely volunteer agreement and it is not mandatory to request or to offer assistance.

Resolution 19-03 authorizing the execution of a Wyoming Water and Wastewater Mutual Aid and Assistance agreement with other agencies to provide mutual aid and assistance for water and waste water treatment in the case of an extreme disaster was approved by the city council.

Resolution 19-04, regarding the Wyoming Northstar Corporation’s lease agreement, also passed. This is the lease of the property located in Union Center where Northstar operates a light manufacturing facility. The lease had previously been amended to reduce the rent and to extend the term of the lease to April 30, with an option to purchase.

The second amendment to the lease will reduce the monthly rent to $7,000 and will extend the term of the lease for 24 months.
