Brenda Ann Mills

Posted

Our beloved mother, Brenda Ann Mills, returned home to our Heavenly Father on March 5.

Brenda was born to Jerry and Charlotte Brakey on Jan. 24, 1960, in Fort Worth, Texas. Brenda grew up in Salt Lake City with her parents; brothers, Jack, Jimmy and Curtis; and sister, Cindy. In the ’80s, Brenda met the love of her life, Kim Mills. From this union came her beloved children, Zachary Glenn Mills and Ashlee Ann Mills. Brenda’s children were her truest love, greatest happiness and joy.

Over the years, Brenda worked as a server at different locations throughout Evanston and made many friends; most can say they have had the pleasure of her beautiful smile at one time or another. Brenda had a heart of gold, and she would do just about anything for anyone. Brenda worked the past few years at Jody’s Diner in Evanston, and this is where she found her extended family and lifelong friends.

Brenda’s greatest joy was her family, especially her children. She loved to read, especially fantasy and sci-fi books. She loved her gameshows on television. She loved being outdoors, taking a walk on the Bear River walkway. In her younger years, she was quite the social butterfly and enjoyed meeting new people — nobody was a stranger to her.

Brenda is survived by her children, Zack Mills of Evanston and Ashlee Mills of Evanston; sister, Cindy Thompson of Evanston; brother, Jack (Julia) Brakey of Vernal, Utah; brother, Jimmy (Sue) Brakey of Salt Lake City; many nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Jody Burton of Evanston.

Brenda is preceded in death by her husband, Kim Mills; her father, Jerry Brakey; mother, Charlotte Brakey; and brother, Curtis Brakey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at the Calvary Chapel, located at 211 Overthrust Dr., in Evanston. There will be a service followed by a potluck dinner at Jody’s Diner, located at 260 Bear River Dr., in Evanston.
