EVANSTON — Uinta BOCES No. 1 held its 2017 graduation recently. The commencement ceremony was held May 13, at Davis Middle School in Evanston, where students, families and friends packed the auditorium.
BOCES allows students to take courses through several colleges and universities. It also offers programs for Wyoming High School Equivalency, Families Becoming Independent program and Certified Nursing Assistant, among other courses.
The processional began the ceremony, with Heidi Baxter playing “Pomp and Circumstance.”
BOCES Executive Director Mike Williams then addressed attendees, welcoming the graduates and their families and friends.
Remarks from Western Wyoming Community College Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Clifford M. Wittstruck II followed Williams’ address.
Three program representatives then addressed the graduates: Troy Archuleta, academic coordinator at University of Wyoming Outreach School; Heidi Currutt, Evanston campus coordinator for Western Wyoming Community College; and Diane White, Uinta BOCES No. 1 coordinator.
Utah State University graduate Sarah Walk spoke at the graduation, followed by fellow graduates Rebecca Ann Young (WWCC) and Mitch Anthony Jackson (Wyoming High School Equivalency).
White presented some special awards before BOCES board member Josh Welling read the names of all the graduates and Williams, Currutt and White presented them with their diplomas or certificates.
Williams then presented the graduates, all of whom graced the stage, with some tossing their caps high into the air. Baxter played “Pomp and Circumstance” once again, closing the ceremony.
