EVANSTON — Local law enforcement officers are asking for help from the public after at least two horses were shot in Uinta County. Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brooke Hale said one horse has died and another was injured but still alive as of Wednesday. The shootings took place on Wasatch Road, just outside of Evanston.
“It was the same owner, the same property,” Hale said, “and the wounds had occurred recently.” She said the horses were shot with a small caliber firearm, most likely this week but “nobody saw or heard it when it happened.”
Hale said the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office isn’t releasing much information because the incident is being actively investigated.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the shootings to contact Sgt. Hale or Deputy Calvin Robinson at 307-783-1000. People with information can also report an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by calling 307-789-CASH (2274) or by sending a text message to 307-708-CASH (2274). Crime Stoppers may award up to $1,000 for helpful tips.
