The Evanston Youth Athletic Board is pleased to announce their selections for the 2017-18 coach and sponsor of the year.  Selected by the board as coach of the year is Autumn Doyle and as sponsor of the year, Jimmy John’s of Evanston.

Autumn Doyle is being honored as Evanston Youth Athletics (EYA) coach of the year for outstanding service and involvement as an Evanston youth sport coach in the 2018 Evanston Jr. Girls Softball program (two teams including 11U and 14U teams).

Autumn grew up in Evanston and participated in a variety of youth sports and high school sports programs. She began coaching youth sports about 10 years ago in 2008.

She began coaching to give her own children a positive sports learning experience and because she loves the sport of softball and the coaching/teaching experience. She has coached youth baseball and Jr. girls softball every year since 2008.

Autumn loves to watch the growth the young girls make,  who come into the sport not knowing how to play. She loves being part of a team, and making a positive impact on young people. She said, “It’s not about you as a coach, it’s all about your team.”

“When you love coaching and what you are doing, you’re always going to find the time to help our youth.”

Autumn sees the benefits of youth sports as building character, self-confidence, learning what it means to be part of a team, learning the disappointment of loss but also learning the great reward of hard work and winning.

She feels that youth sports provide a great opportunity to gain many friends and can contribute to an enjoyable way of life for years to come.  Throughout her volunteer coaching experience, Autumn has been a positive influence in the lives of many young people.

Autumn has been nationally certified as a youth sports coach through the NYSCA (National Youth Sports Coaches Association) training program as well as being USA Softball certified. She also has a secondary education degree and major in P.E.

She always puts forth her best effort when working with youth programs and has exemplified Evanston Youth Athletics and NYSCA standards and ethics through her caring attitude and desire to work with youth in teaching proper skills and techniques along with making sure the kids are always having fun.

In recognition of her commitment and dedication to the betterment of Evanston youth sports programs, Autumn Doyle has been selected as the 2017-18 Evanston Youth Athletic coach of the year.

Jimmy John’s of Evanston is being honored as the Evanston Youth Athletics (EYA) 2017-18 sponsor of the year for outstanding support of Evanston Youth T-ball, Zooka/Coach Pitch and Jr. Girls Softball programs. Jimmy John’s is a sponsor of 2018 Youth Football as well and has been a supporter of Evanston Youth Athletics and Evanston Parks and Recreation in other areas. Jimmy John’s opened their doors May 2, 2017 providing gourmet sandwiches with what they deem the best people, fastest service and freshest ingredients.

Everything on their menu is prepared fresh every day.  Additional criterion used in considering “Sponsor of The Year” includes support or sponsorship of other community-based groups, organizations and programs. Noted community contributions, among others include; EHS and middle school athletic programs such as basketball, and volleyball, Evanston Parks & Recreation, Teton Science trips, the AVID team and more.

In 2017-18, Jimmy John’s has proven to be an outstanding example in stressing the importance of being involved in sponsorship and service to the community. Community support such as theirs helps toward the development of existing and new programs and therefore improves the quality of life within our community. Congratulations to Jimmy John’s for being selected Evanston Youth Athletics Sponsor of the Year.
