EVANSTON — The Wyoming Department of Health hosted an open house and a community listening session event in Evanston on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Ana’s on Main Street as part of a statewide health assessment. Representatives with the Wyoming Department of Health and the Wyoming Business Council have been touring the state hosting events in communities throughout Wyoming.
Kim Porter, Wyoming Business Council Community Initiatives Director, said about a dozen people had stopped by the open house throughout the afternoon to share their thoughts and concerns about community health. Porter said the listening sessions had not been very well attended at other communities and Evanston followed that trend.
Although in-person attendance was low, Porter and Stephanie Pyle, Wyoming Department of Health Acting Senior Administrator, said they were providing other ways for citizens to participate.
The two had been out in the community distributing information cards to encourage people to take an online community learning survey in order to provide input. Porter said a number of people had already completed the survey in the few hours since information cards had been distributed.
Pyle said the online survey would be available until the end of October to give Wyoming residents more time to participate in a flexible, convenient format. The online survey can be accessed at sha.wyo.gov/engagement.
