Victor Glenn Hughes

Victor Glenn Hughes, 83, passed away peacefully on March 11, in Evanston. He was born in Evanston on Sept. 19, 1937, to Glenn and Rebecca Hughes. Victor was the oldest of seven children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; brothers, Edwin Hughes and Roger Hughes; and sister, Margaret Hoch.

He leaves behind his loving sons, Dwight Hughes of Evanston and Neal Hughes (Joella); two grandsons, Nicholas and Isaac of Rock Springs; brother, Sheldon Hughes (Marsha) of Evanston; and sisters, Laura Hughes and Adell McGee, both of Evanston. 

He married Ruth Soper in 1965. In 1980, they bought Summit Pets in Evanston and ran it for many years.

Victor worked at Freeman’s Cafe at age 13, washing dishes. He worked at the Wyoming State Hospital and Uinta County School District No. 1 for many years. He served honorably in the Wyoming National Guard for 20 years.

Victor loved hunting and fishing. He also loved walking his dogs, who were his walking companions. He never met a stranger he wouldn’t help. A viewing was held at Crandall Funeral Home on March 11, and a private service will be held at a later time.
