The Evanston High School track and field team traveled to Green River to participate in the Green River Invitational held April 18-21. Eleven high schools competed in the event and when the dust cleared, Evanston’s team finished in second place with a score of 185.5. The Girls’ were in second place with a score of 120 points and the boys finished in 4th place with 65.5 points.

Girls’ competition

In the 100-meter dash, Kaelyn Hiatt was 13th with a time of 14.21. Amber Lowe was 17th with a time of 14.41.

Gabby Hall finished in 12th place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.86 and Jenna Tethal was 16th completing the race in 31.11.

Breila Fuller continued her winning ways in the 800-meter run. She won the event with a time of 2:34.89. Bailey Barker was 5th with a time of 2:49.87. Lexie Demander and Emma Fuez were 8th and 9th respectively. Alexis Walker and Maggie Moore were 12th and 13th in the race.

Fuller also won the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:53.66 and Alexis Walker was 7th with a time of 6:35.60.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Leila Martine was 2nd with a time of 16.32, slightly behind Grace Tanner of Big Piney who had a time of 16.30. Alexia Leland was 4th with a time of 17,22 and Tayler Groll was 5th with a time of 17.29.

Groll finished the 300-meter hurdles in 2nd place with a time of 50.30 and Alexia Leland was 4th with a time of 52.22.

Evanston’s 4X100 relay team of Kaelyn Jiatt, Leila Martinez, Amber Lowe and Alexia Leland finished in 2nd place with a time of 54.64.

Leland, Groll, Fuller and Hiatt won the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 4:26.82.

Groll and Hiatt both finished well in the pole vault event. Groll placed 4th, clearing the bar at 8-feet and Hiatt was 5th with a height of 7’-06”.

Leila Martinez won the long jump event with a distance of 18 feet, almost two feet farther than the nearest competitor. She also won the triple-jump event with a distance of 39-02.00 feet. Her closest competitor was Shantelle Rule from Pinedale with a distance of 36-11.00

Megan Fisher placed 6th in the shot put event with a distance of 34-01.75. Fisher also placed 4th in the discus throw with a distance of 101-07.

Boys’ competition

In the 100-meter dash, Kody Smith placed 16th with a time of 12.05 out of 75 competitors. 

Gage Smith was 18th in the 200-meter dash, completing the event with a time of 26.32.

Tyrell Halladay placed 2nd in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.71. Garret Berger was 10th with a time of 2:17.77.

Berger finished in 9th place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:21.84.

Jesse Barker finished in 4th place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.31 and then placed 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.67.

The team of Hunter Groll, Jesse Barker, Kody Smith and Seth Lester placed 3rd in the 4X100 meter relay.

Barker, Groll, Smith and Tyrell Hallady placed 2nd in the 4X400 meter relay.

Seth MacDonald won the high jump event clearing the bar at six-foot even. Juston Renard tied for 6th with a height of 5-03.

Dustin Smith placed 3rd in the pole vault with 11-06 feet. Cris Periman was 5th with a jump of 10 feet. Hunter Groll tied for 9th with a height of 9 feet.

MacDonald finished 5th in the triple jump with a distance of 41-00.25.

Matthew Geary was 10th in the shot put with a distance of 37-05.50. Geary place 8th in the discus throw with a distance of 115-06.
