Sophomore Heather Buzarde had a good weekend at the conference meet hosted by Kelly Walsh, as she qualified for state in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle. Laramie placed first, followed by Green River, Kelly Walsh and Rock Springs. The Lady Red Devils swam to a fifth-place finish with 111 points, finishing ahead of Natrona County. Sophomore Brooke Phillips is 1.76 seconds away from a qualifying time in the 500-yard freestyle and coach Kate Schmidt is hopeful Phillips can qualify at the “last chance” meet hosted by Green River this Thursday at 4 p.m., prior to the state meet in Laramie on Nov. 1-2.
