Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Stormy Steven Decker, passed away at his home at the age of 62, the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 17, due to a chronic illness.

Stormy was born in Craig, Colorado, April 24, 1959 to Lane and Harriette Decker, as the youngest of seven children. He attended all of his schooling in Craig. At an early age, he developed a great love of the outdoors, fishing and horses.

He married Jeanie Demille in 1977, in Craig, Colorado, where he had his first son, Shaun. They later divorced. He married Shannon Stana Preece in 1991 in Centennial, after many years together, and had two sons, Zackariah and Kyle. He was widowed by Stana in April 1999. He then spent the rest of his life with Deserae Aaron Allred. They spent many beautiful years together and were officially married Feb. 28, 2020.

Stormy was a man of many trades including horse trainer, oilfield, mining, grocery management and manufacturing. He spent the longest at Evanston Carbon Fiber, where he retired due to health reasons late in 2019.

Stormy will always be remembered as a kind and caring man, whose quiet strength and resilience made him a rock for those close to him. He was happiest and most at peace being in the mountains, beside a gently rolling stream, casting his line in the water, with his dog beside him. He always had a special relationship with the animals in his life, and cared deeply for them.

He was a strong friend, who listened carefully and always had helpful advice. He was a devoted husband and father who always made you feel special when you were beside him. We will miss everything about him, including his sparkling blue eyes, infectious smile and laugh, camping and fishing stories and relentless teasing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deserae Allred of Evanston; sons: Shaun Decker of Evans, Colorado; Zackariah Decker (Jeri) of Evanston; and Kyle Decker (Beverly); granddaughter, Vasti, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; dog, Savannah; cat, Jack; sisters: Angela Tucker of Green River; Teresa Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Donna Carter of Craig, Colorado; Judy Rogers of Coos Bay, Oregon; and Audrey Bergeson, of Encampment; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lane and Harriette; his second wife, Shannon; his brother, Casey; and many beloved pets, especially his Reggie dog.

Due to his request there will be no service. His family and friends will hold a celebration of life, where his ashes will be spread at his favorite fishing spot in the Greys River late next spring or early summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any who wish to make a donation in his name to your favorite nature or conservation effort that protects the pristine beauty of the natural world that he loved so much. We’ll miss you, Stormy, remember you fondly forever, and we were lucky to have you in our lives.
