The Evanston Parks and Recreation District and Evanston Wal-Mart are conducting the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Shoots held at the Evanston Recreation Center. Firearms, archery and basketball hoop shoot divisions are being offered this year. They run from 7-9 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday until Nov. 21.
The second grade basketball competition will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20.
General admission or a season pass is required to participate in the competitions. Additional entries for the firearms and archery competitions cost 50 cents.
The rec center’s shooting range opened for the 2017-18 season on Nov. 1. Firearms open shoot is held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday and Wednesdays, while archery an open shoot will be held from 7-9 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday. General admission is required unless participants have a rec center pass.
