Sarah Ann Johnson, 84, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born Jan. 9, 1937, to Russell J. Harris and Mary Harris (Kowalski) in Salamanca, New York. 

She married Hubert S. Mickel on Oct. 2, 1961, in Waterville, Vermont; they later divorced.

She attended Eastern Nazarene College, Eastern Oregon State University in LaGrande, Oregon, and Walla Walla College in Washington. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and played the piano for church services. She enjoyed music, walking, singing, bird watching, road trips and taking care of animals. She was a nanny to her two grandsons, Dave and Michael, when they were little. She spent most of her long elementary teaching career in Evanston, teaching kindergarten and first grade.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer (John) Beachler, Steve (Peilan) Johnson and Julietta Rabens; grandchildren, Phil (Marni) Beachler, Erinne Beachler, David Johnson and Michael Johnson; and her great-granddaughter, Mabel Beachler.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her older siblings, four brothers, three sisters and her ex-husband.

Interment will be in the Evanston Cemetery at a later date.
