Ron “Tub” Robbins, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Bridger on Saturday, Oct. 30.
Ron was born on June 6, 1938, in Deadwood, South Dakota. He was the son of Charles Richard Robbins and Eleanore (Schmidt) Robbins.
Ron married his first love, Ruby Robbins, on March 28, 1958, in Newtown, North Dakota. Ron and Ruby had three wonderful children together: Ronny Robbins Jr., Billy (Robbins) Hawkins and Danny Robbins. After losing Ruby on Sept. 11, 1991, he met his second love, Darlene Gabriel, in 1995. Ron and Dar shared their life together for the past 26 years.
Ron was a member of the Army from Jan. 6, 1956, to Dec. 25, 1957, and was honorably discharged from service. Ron then worked for many years as a welder in Fort Bridger, before retiring in 2003. Ron’s interests included fishing at Flaming Gorge, hunting, camping, his horses and his family — especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his longtime love, Darlene Gabriel of Fort Bridger; his sisters, Beverly (Beep) Christofferson of Kemmerer, Glenda Nash of Caldwell, Idaho, and Betty Hess of California; his son, Ronny Robbins Jr. (Penny) of Mountain View; his daughter, Billy Hawkins (Scott) of Mountain View; Darlene’s daughters, Johnetta Heltz (Jason) of Mountain View and Mieshell Damron (Carl) of Scottsbluff Nebraska; his grandchildren, Ronny Lee Robbins III, Jennifer Bravo, Janna Richards, Jessica Leon, Bobbie Webb, Libby Robbins and Jaden Heltz; as well as many great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Ruby Robbins; his son, Danny Robbins; his grandson, Ronny Boyd Hawkins and his granddaughter, Lila Robbins.
Ron will be greatly missed by all who knew him and had the chance to love him.
A memorial service will be conducted for Ron on Thursday, Nov. 4, at the American Legion in Fort Bridger. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m. Please join the family for a luncheon at the Legion following the service.
