Rex Frost Birch

EVANSTON — Rex Frost Birch was born on April 22, 1918, to J. Don Birch and Mary Jane Frost Birch in Coalville Utah.

He grew up on the family farm in Hoytsville Utah. He graduated from North Summit High School in 1937.

On Oct. 17, 1939, he married Viola Staley. They moved to Atlantic City, where he was a self-employed miner. In 1942 he joined the Navy and was sent to Japan. After the service, he followed construction for a while and finally ended up with his own construction company in Lyman.

His pastimes were work, work, work and water skiing. Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Mazatlan, Mexico, and later Yuma, Ariz.

He is survived by a son: Dee (Glenys); a daughter: Dixie, all of Lyman; a sister, Beth Carpenter (James) of Green River; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held in the Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. Viewing was at 10 a.m. Interment was in the Hoytsville Utah Cemetery.
