WORLAND – The Evanston High School football team's playoff dreams are over.

The Red Devils, who were playing in a must-win game against Worland on Friday, turned the ball over four times in a 14-0 loss.

Carson Lyman got the Warriors on the board (3-4, 3-3) first with a two-yard run with 6:37 to play in the second quarter.

Things appeared to be going Evanston’s way when Nick Kunz delivered a sack on third-and-one. Worland turned the ball over on downs after going for it on fourth-and-ninth at the Evanston 33.

Seth Lloyd followed with a 27-yard run to bring the ball to the Warriors’ 25-yard line. The Evanston quarterback then found Hunter Groll with an 11-yard pass to place the ball at the 14 with time winding down in the second quarter.

Then things took a turn for the worse for the Red Devils (3-4, 2-3), who saw limited action from leading rusher Tyus Cornia. Cornia missed the majority of the first half, but later returned and finished with 33 yards rushing.

Mathew Sanchez intercepted Lloyd with 13 seconds left in the first half and the momentum belonged to the Warriors the rest of the way.

The Red Devils lost a fumble and the Warriors recovered at the Evanston 24-yard line late in the third quarter. The turnover led to a two-yard score by Andrew Edholm to give Worland a 14-0 edge with 11:58 to play in the fourth quarter.

Then on fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line, Evanston lost another fumble. Worland was able to recover at its own five-yard line with seven minutes to play.

The Red Devils got a quick defensive stop, but suffered their third fumble of the game on a punt return. Worland recovered with 5:30 to play in the fourth quarter, and the Warriors were able to run out the clock from there.

Evanston will host Jackson at 6 p.m. Friday for the final game of the season.
