Raymond Bergh

Posted

On Dec. 26, 2017, Ray passed away peacefully, with his wife and daughter by his side.

Ray was born in Poplar, Montana, on Feb. 28, 1938, to Orris and Selena Bergh. He was the fourth-born of 10 children.

Ray had many hobbies that kept him busy. He loved to fish, hunt, bowl and metal detect, but he was best known for his stellar golf game. Ray was on that course to win. He took the game very seriously, and he would often tell his golfing companions that “they were not there to have fun!” Of course, we all thought that was hilarious and it gave us a good laugh.

Ray loved his grandsons more than life. He was always there for them no matter what they needed, and he reveled in making sure they were taken care of — whether it be continually picking them up for a ride to the bus stop (which was about 400 yards away), with a warm car and hot tea, or hanging out with them when they were sick, carting them to the museum at Hill Air Force Base or taking them fishing at the local fishing hole — Ray loved spending time with the boys when his health allowed him to.

Raymond adored his daughter and she adored him. He was the best father a girl could ask for and she was definitely a daddy’s girl. He took care of her until his last breath, and she loved him with all her heart.

Ray was married for more than 52 years to the most kind, patient, tolerant and loyal woman, who loved him with her heart and soul.

He was one of the hardest workers out there, starting work early in life to help support his large family of brothers and sisters. He worked in the oil field for more than 50 years, partnering with his brother Les; they owned Fluids Control, Inc. in Evanston, later moving to Morgan, Utah, where they owned and ran Round Valley Golf Course. Ray put in endless hours, often working from dawn till dusk, making sure everything was just right.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Orris and Selena Bergh. We’re sure he’s up there making the deal of the century with his brother Les, while his brother Orris is overseeing all transactions and his sister Doris is cracking jokes as usual.

Ray is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Barbi (Eric) Blonquist; son, Don (Julie) Bergh; six grandsons, Gunnar Caswell, Brody Caswell, McCrae Blonquist, David Bergh, Matt Bergh, and Alex Bergh; sisters, Joy (Robin) Neihardt, Jan  (Geo) Truppi, Audrey (Delbert) Lutz; brothers, Jim (Bonnie) Bergh, Larry (Pat) Bergh, and Joe Bergh.

A memorial luncheon will be held in Ray’s honor, celebrating his life and his birthday in February.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to Mindy Bergh for her countless hours of card playing with Ray, and to Dennis Shisler for coming to visit Ray religiously and helping whenever we needed it. Also, to Family Tree Assisted Living, for your kindness and compassion while taking care of Dad.
