Pony Express reride organizers: Apply by April 1 to be part of living history

Posted

EVANSTON — The 2020 Pony Express reride is scheduled to cross Uinta County on Monday, June 8. Applications are due April 1. The mail will arrive at the Wyoming/Utah State Line at 6:30 a.m. Ride participants will carry the mail across Uinta County, where they will meet riders from Sweetwater County near Granger.

The Uinta County Pony Express welcomes your support and participation in our living history. Members receive a ride pin, membership card, a subscription to the Pony Express Gazette, and each new member gets a Bible to be carried during their ride.

Riders must be at least 14 years old, with parent’s permission, and have a horse that can maintain a lope for 2 miles before passing mail on to the next rider. Organizers will try to help those with limitations along the way. Participants will relive history as well as give their horses something to do.

For more information or if you have questions, call Kristine Hayduk at (307) 679-5755. Applications are available at Rip’s Grocery, 98 County Rd. in Evanston. They can also be found at https://nationalponyexpress.org/the-states/wyoming/.
