Police: Pregnant woman assaulted after Facebook feud

EVANSTON — An Evanston woman has been arrested on felony aggravated assault charges related to allegedly attacking a woman who is eight months pregnant. Sarah Tingey of Evanston is being held at the Uinta County Jail awaiting a preliminary circuit court hearing following the incident, which occurred on Aug. 28.

According to court documents, the incident began as a series of Facebook posts between Tingey and the alleged victim, Andrea White. Later that evening, Tingey was invited by White to White’s workplace to discuss the disagreement. According to court documents, witnesses said when Tingey arrived at White’s workplace, she began punching White in the face.

A witness said that he intervened to stop the assault and attempted to hold Tingey until law enforcement arrived, according to court documents.

However, he said she was able to escape by slipping out of her top. She then ran out of the establishment and into an SUV and left the scene.

According to court documents, when Evanston Police Officer Nikoli Knezovich arrived on the scene, he found the obviously pregnant White to have a swollen right eye with a cut underneath and a swollen nose that appeared tilted to one side.

White told the officer that the right part of her face was numb. Court documents indicate that White sustained several facial fractures during the incident.

Tingey was arrested at her place of residence later that night. She has had her initial court appearance, where a bond was set in the amount of $25,000. Tingey’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 7, to determine if there is probable cause for the case to be bound over to district court. Tingey has applied for a public defender.

If convicted, Tingey could be sentenced for up to 10 years in prison.
