Phil R. Sabey, 59, passed away January 19, at Flaming Gorge, doing what he loved.
Phil was born Aug. 11, 1957, in Heber City, Utah, to Rex B. and Peg Sabey. On Sept. 29, 1978, he married Shelley Gines in Elko, Nevada. They were married 38 years.
He was a co-owner of P.K. Pump Repair. Phil enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed running lion and bear with his dogs. He loved to hunt deer and elk with his kids and grandkids.
His real passion was fishing, always waiting for the next bite and reeling in the big one. He shared his love of fishing with anyone who wanted to join him on the boat. Phil shared his life experiences through poems and drawings.
He is survived by his children Ken Christensen, Brandon (Kerri) Sabey and Shannon Sabey Newton, all of Lyman; his parents Rex and Peg Sabey of Charleston, Utah; siblings, Clark Sabey of Charleston, Utah, Jed Sabey of Vernal, Utah, Brett Sabey of Vernal, Utah, Whitney (Greg) Ferguson of Vernal, Utah and Tracey Sabey of Heber City, Utah.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rex and Ruby Allred and Vivian and Berdell Sabey.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Urie Stake Center. Family and friends will gather at the church on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in the Charleston Cemetery, Charleston, Utah.
