Peggy Lois Walker

Peggy passed away Saturday, May 15, in Evanston, with her family by her side. Peggy was born on Dec. 8, 1934, in Bon Air, Talladega, Alabama, to E. Pratt Northcutt and Lillie Cash. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Tom and Essie McDaniel.

She married Robert E. Roden on Dec. 8, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama. To that union, five children were born. They later divorced, and she married Roscoe E. Doran in 1961. To that union, three children were born. They later divorced, and she married Raymond A. Walker on July 24, 1979, in Las Vegas. The couple resided in West Valley City, Utah, until Raymond’s death in 1998.

Peggy moved to Evanston, and lived out her remaining years with some of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peggy worked as a cook for most of her career in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Evanston. She was an incredibly strong woman who raised all eight of her children, as well as many of her grandchildren.

She loved to sew, read and had an amazing rose and vegetable garden that she took much pride in. Above all, she took pride in her family

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, E. Pratt Northcutt and Lillie Cash Northcutt; her aunt and uncle who raised her, Tom and Essie McDaniel; her brother, Eddie J. Grimes; her husband, Raymond A. Walker; and her granddaughter, Candice (Candie) Roden White.

Peggy is survived by her eight children: Elizabeth Finnamin of Prairie, Idaho; Larry (Carla) Roden of Parump, Nevada; Linda Reeves of Denver; Diane Swain of Riverton; Michael (Barbara) Roden of Pocatello, Idaho; Ron (Linda) Doran of Walters, Oklahoma; Debbie Green of Evanston; and Cindi (Jackie) Johnson of Lexington, Oklahoma. Peggy is also survived by 22 grandchildren, and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to personally thank the caretakers at Compassionate Journey for the love and care they gave to Peggy. We would also like to thank Rocky Mountain Care and their staff for the amazing care they took of her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Compassionate Journey in the name of Peggy Walker. A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date.
