The Outlaws defeated the Green River Knights 11-3 Thursday. It was the Outlaws’ fourth win over Green River in five games.

The Outlaws dominated the game from the outset starting with a homerun hit by MacDonald in the bottom of the first inning.

In the top of the third inning, Ian Ebert singled on a line drive to Outlaw left fielder Cris Periman. Ebert was followed by Blake Gelinas who singled on a line drive to second base and Ebert advanced to third base. Ebert scored on a passed ball when Brenden Hopkins walked to first base. Karson Buetel struck out with Chandler Anderson pitching, ending the Knight’s chances of scoring another run.

The Outlaws took complete control in the bottom of the third inning starting when Reid Gross singled on a ground ball to the Knights’ shortstop. MacDonald singled with a bunt to R. Taliaferro and Gross advanced to second base. An error by the catcher allowed Gross to advance to third base and MacDonald to advance to second. Brandon Wicks then hit a ground ball to center field and Gross and MacDonald scored, giving Evanston a 3-1 lead.

Griffen Mitchell singled on a ground ball toward second base and Wicks was safe at third base. There was an amazing hit by Hunter Hicks who tripled on a fly ball to right field. Both Wicks and Mitchell scored. Then Seth Lloyd grounded out to the second baseman but Hicks scored and the Outlaws ended the third inning with a 6-1 lead over Green River.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Beau Lloyd walked to first base and then Cris Periman singled on a ground ball toward the pitcher. After Madsen and Gross struck out, MacDonald doubled on a fly ball to center field. Beau Lloyd scored and Periman was safe at third base. Wicks singled on a ground ball to the shortstop, giving Periman the chance to score and MacDonald was safe at third base. Griffen Mitchell then singled on a grounder to second base and MacDonald was safe at home plate. The Outlaws ended the fifth inning of this non-league game leading the Knights 9-1.

The Knights attempted a comeback in the top of the sixth inning. Brendan Hopkins doubled on a fly ball to right fielder Reid Gross, then Taylor Jensen singled on a fly ball to shortstop Seth Lloyd. Hopkins held up at second base. Ramsey Taliaferro singled on a grounder to the shortstop and Hopkins scored while Jensen held up at third base. Jensen scored later in the inning but the Outlaws maintained their lead, 9-3.

In the top of the scheduled seventh inning, Beau Lloyd singled on a line drive to left field and then Periman singled on a ground ball to the shortstop. A mishandled throw allowed Periman and Lloyd to advance their respective bases and then Madsen singled on a line drive to left field. Both Lloyd and Periman scored, giving the Outlaws their final score of 11-3.
