EVANSTON — In remembrance of veterans, and in honor of Memorial Day, the Evanston Civic Orchestra and Chorus performed a concert on May 25, at Evanston Middle School.
The Civic Chorus started the concert singing the “Star-Spangled Banner.” Following, they performed four other numbers: including “Shenandoah,” “Witness,” “Cindy,” and “A Just and Lasting Peace.”
The group harmonized well, and appeared to really enjoy themselves with their upbeat sound.
The orchestra performed three pieces. The first, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” included vocal soloist Jonathan Lange, whose daughter, Bethany Lange, arranged the piece.
Next, they played “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” and “Fiddle Faddle.”
It was apparent that the orchestra was dedicated to making this performance one to remember.
The vocalists and instrumentalists performed two songs together to finish off the performance, “American the Beautiful” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
