Buffalos cruise past Wheatland in semifinal game

MOUNTAIN VIEW – The Mountain View High School football team will play for a state championship.

After jumping out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter, the Buffalos scored 27 unanswered points in the second quarter before rolling to a 45-0 win against Wheatland on Friday in a Class 2A state semifinal game.

Mountain View will play the winner of Glenrock and Big Piney at noon Friday, Nov. 10 for the state title at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie.

The Buffalos finished with 512 yards of total offense while recording their sixth shutout this season.

Sophomore co-quarterback Kimball Madsen was 5 of 11 through the air for 97 yards with two touchdowns. He also ran for 194 yards on 16 carries and had three scores on the ground.

Sophomore running back Briggin Bluemel finished with 158 yards rushing on 19 carries and a touchdown.

Senior Jason Stoddard had three receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 54 yards on five carries.

The Buffalos will be looking to capture their fifth football state championship in school history and their first since 2014.
