Mike Gene Sealey, 74, of Evanston and formerly of Liberal, Kansas, left this earth Monday, Dec. 6, after a long battle with COPD. Known for his infectious humor and being a practical joker, Mike was a man who was rarely overlooked and never forgotten. Mike had the ability to brighten any room he walked into and was always prepared with a joke or story, believable or not.

Born to John and Mildred Sealey, Mike spent his childhood and early adult years in his hometown of Liberal, Kansas. After accepting a job transfer with Northern Natural Gas, Mike moved to Evanston at the age of 30; he worked there until his retirement.

Mike is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Mikel (Jodie) Sealey of West Jordan, Utah; daughter, Tai Sealey of Liberal, Kansas; and daughter, Bobbi (Jayson) Derrick of San Antonio, Texas.

He was a proud grandpa and great-grandpa to Abby, Mackenzie, Eli, Griffin, Kimberly, Tiffany, Amber, Ezekiel and Delilah.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Evanston, followed by a luncheon, where family and friends are encouraged to share memories, stories and jokes in Mike’s honor.
