Michael (Mike) W. Brewer

Posted

Mike Brewer, son, brother and friend to all he met, passed away Monday, April 17, at the University hospital in Salt Lake City.

Mike loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and being near the rivers. He was in his element there. One of his passions was rock hunting for jade and quartz; any pretty rock was great, and he especially liked gold panning. He loved going to the woods and would help get wood for the winter every year he could. He liked flowers and herbs and was excited to see them grow.
Mike liked rock and roll and country music. He had an interest in cooking and barbecuing, especially in the summer. He loved to make snow cones and could eat plenty of them. Mike was great with animals. He would talk to them and get them to do tricks and talk back to him. It really made  him laugh that they understood him.

Mike didn’t know a stranger; he said, “In five minutes, I will know who he is.” Mike would help anyone anytime.

Mike worked the oilfield in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, for several years and all over Wyoming. He was employed by the State of Alaska Highway Department. He worked for Wal-Mart in Evanston for more than two years and most recently was a maintenance man for Bill Alexander. Mike had obtained his GED and went to college for computer programming.

Mike is survived by his mother, Loretta (Lori) (Ed) Oliver; three sisters, Michelle G. Martin, Stacy Brewer and Lorrie (David) Richeson); grandmother Mildred Hanni; aunt, Marilu Heilesen; nephews John C. Rodighiero and Gram Richeson; nice, Angela (Todd) Molyneux; and cousins Linda (Kurt) Sorensen and Dale (Debbie) Huntsman.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Albert C. Brewer; grandparents Jesse (Ollie) Brewer, Donald D. Hanni and Sarah Grace Simons Hanni; and cousin Nicole Huntsman.

The celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on July 20 in the first pavilion on the buffalo side of the Bear River State Park. A luncheon will follow.

The family would like to express thanks to the staff at Evanston Regional Hospital, the Life Flight crew and the staff at the University of Utah for all the care provided to Mike.
