Michael “Mike” McGraw

Posted

On March 9, Michael (Mike) McGraw, a very cherished loved one, passed into his heavenly home.

He was born July 29, 1943, to a loving family in Huntington Park, California. He grew up guided by his parents, Bernard and Eloise McGraw, with his brother, Doug McGraw.

In 1965, Mike found his soulmate, Virgina (Vicky) McGraw, in Hawaii, and soon fell in love. From their 53 years of marriage came  two daughters, Lori Wisdom and Lisa McGraw. Many beloved grandchildren and a great-grandchild followed. Mike valued his family heavily and loved spending time with them.

Throughout Mike’s life, he worked as a hardhat diver for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (1964-1967), while he was a paratrooper in the Marine Corps Reserves for six years. After diving, he became a Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff (1969-1993), then retired later in Evanston, with his family. Mike’s large and loving heart guided him to always do what he thought was best for his family, and because of his caring, he formed lifelong friends.

Mike’s memorial will be Sunday, March 17, at the Union Presbyterian Church, following the church service at 12:30 p.m. His favorite foods will be served for all to enjoy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or the Union Presbyterian Church in Mike’s honor.
