Evanston Mayor Kent Williams signed a pair of proclamations, designating January as both Human Trafficking Awareness Month and National Stalking Awareness Month. The Human Trafficking Awareness Month proclamation calls upon the people of Evanston to observe the month of January to recognize the signs of human trafficking as a serious crime. The National Stalking Awareness Month proclamation calls upon residents to do the same with signs of stalking, acknowledge stalking as a serious crime and urges those affected not to be afraid to speak out or ask for help.
