Man charged with sexually abusing minor, possessing child porn

Posted

EVANSTON — An Evanston man has been arrested and charged with 12 counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the fourth degree. Jesse E. Bott, 51, faces anywhere from 5-12 years in prison for each of six counts of enticing a child to make pornography, up to 10 years each for six counts of possessing child pornography and up to five years for the sexual abuse of a minor charge.

According to court documents, Facebook messenger provided a cybertip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in November 2019 regarding potential child pornography sent to Bott’s account. The tip was subsequently shared with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

The teen victim in the case has known Bott since she was a pre-teen when he became a coach of hers. According to a supporting affidavit filed in the case, the victim stated the relationship between the two began to change as she matured and Bott allegedly started to make comments about her appearance.

Eventually, Bott allegedly began asking for photographs to be sent through Facebook and SnapChat, saying he “wanted to see everything.” The victim stated Bott told her if she didn’t send the photos he would stop coaching her, which could harm her chances of receiving a scholarship to college.

The victim allegedly sent multiple explicit photos to Bott over a period of a few months, and Bott allegedly sent photos of himself through the same social media sites. Bott allegedly also asked the victim to send videos of herself engaged in sexual behavior, which she did.

At one point, Bott also allegedly touched her in a sexual manner.

The victim told investigators she believes she has sent more than 150 photographs to Bott through Facebook Messenger and SnapChat.

If convicted, Bott could be sentenced to up to 137 years behind bars, ordered to pay up to $130,000 in fines or both.

Bott’s arraignment in Third District Court has not yet been scheduled.
